East Kent Coalfields Programme
Together with SQW, BBP undertook an Interim Evaluation of the East Kent Coalfields Regeneration Programme. The assignment involved a comprehensive review of projects that had recovered more than 90 hectares of brownfield industrial land on four former colliery sites, plus a number of associated ‘softer’ support and community projects. The evaluation considered the socio-economic issues affecting the sites, which differed from those underpinning the National Programme. BBP’s work included an evaluation of costs, funding proposals, estimating impacts, risk assessment and exit strategies, and involved consultations with project managers, beneficiaries, local residents and community and voluntary groups.
