Contamination and Deriliction remediation Costs Best Practice Note
BBP was appointed to lead a team including Campbell Reith and Davis Langdon to consider the scope for extending Contaminated Land Tax Relief to also cover some of the costs of enabling works associated with bringing Derelict Land back into use. The work involved updating EP's Best Practice Note (BPN 27) prepared by BBP in 2004, to reflect 2007 costs and to include additional guidance for appraising sites affected by derelict land. A simple model was prepared to consider the likely range of costs for different types of site according to size, complexity and proposed end use. The updated BPN will be published by EP and will be used to inform HM Treasury's decision on the appropriate level of derelict land tax relief.
