Strategic Implementation Framework for the Thames Gateway
We were commissioned by the South East England Development Agency (SEEDA) to prepare a Strategic Implementation Framework for the Thames Gateway area. The objective was to provide an overall structure within which regeneration and development could be brought forward – reflecting development constraints such as strategic infrastructure deficits. Working alongside SQW, SEEDA, EEDA and other partners, the following issues were considered:
- Key economic drivers which ‘united’ local areas within the Gateway which will shape future activity and priorities
- The nature, availability and delivery of key sites to accommodate/act as a catalyst for these economic drivers and respond to the housing needs of existing and new employees to be attracted to the area
- The essential infrastructure needed to redress long term communication/ serving deficiencies, as well as opening up the priority identified sites
- Essential skills requirements to meet the needs of businesses generally and key economic sectors, particularly over the next decade.
