We have made significant progress towards formalising our Environmental Management System (EMS) with the recognised British Standard, BS 8555 accreditation. This is an important step in formalising our commitment to minimising the impact of our business activities on the environment.
Our EMS is currently under preparation, and when ready will bring together our commitment, targets and processes for training and raising awareness into a single manual that can be referred to internally by our staff and externally by our clients.
BBP Regeneration recognises the need for both flexibility and coherence in environmental policy. We have clear objectives in our Environmental Policy that underline our day-to-day working practice:
Fulfilling these environmental goals requires both short and long term improvements in company behaviour, including a review of resource usage, suppliers and procurement policy. Fundamentally, achievement of these goals requires a continued effort on behalf of all our staff to commit themselves to these objectives.
As confirmation of the progress that we are making as a company towards improving our environmental impact, we have recently been presented with a Recycling Achievement Award for our active recycling policy over the past year. BBP Regeneration recycled 990kg of paper in 2008 (up from 550kg in 2007) and 30kg of cans & plastic bottles in 2008 (up from 15kg in 2007). Altogether our efforts saved 1,450 kg of CO². Our target is to better this performance throughout 2009.
BBP is a member of the Camden Climate Change Alliance.
